A pair of Evart football players wrapped up their prep careers with some top honors.
MORLEY — The Pine River boys improved to 3-0 in the young season with a 61-40 victory at non-league foe Morley-Stanwood.
A phenomenal season on the field has led to special honors off of it for four individuals in the Marion football program.
EVART — For night No. 1, Carrie Kunkle will take it.
• Calvin College sophomore Trevin Winkle (McBain NMC) recorded seven points, three rebounds and an assist in the Knights’ 84-71 win over Wisconsin-LaCrosse on Saturday.

REED CITY — McBain played to its strength in the season opener on Tuesday at the court of non-league foe Reed City, centering its half-court offense around the physical presence of powerful senior post Evan Haverkamp, and the strategy paid off in a 71-50 victory.
BLANCHARD — If it looked like football on a basketball court, Danny Michell understands.
MESICK — Style points don’t mean all that much.
• Calvin College sophomore Trevin Winkle (McBain NMC) recorded two points and two rebounds in the Knights’ 73-65 win over Concordia-Wisconsin on Friday. He also had eight points and four rebounds in a 75-45 win over Wilmington on Saturday.
BIG RAPIDS — Start to finish, this was the typical rivalry game.
GRAND HAVEN — Ian Ziska isn’t likely to meet someone for the first time and introduce himself as PGA of American Merchandiser of the Year.
MANTON — The chance to play with her older sister was part of the attraction.
